You Are In the Soul, 2016
Adele Gilani was born and raised in Frankfort, KY. Adele finished art school at the University of Kentucky with a degree in fine art printing and painting in 2006. Since then she's traveled the world, started a family, and of course made lots of art along the way.
Adele works in a few different styles:
-
Metallic, vibrant, sparkly abstract works in acrylic- often containing words and iconic imagery. These pieces are about Adele's personal spiritual pathway whether she's taken down a path with music, something she's read, or a trend/movement happening in the world around her.
-
Lush environments painted in oil. These paintings are about celebrating nature. Adele usually paints from photos she's taken while on vacation or around her neighborhood in the Oakland Hills. The underlying message of these works is about coming to nature as yourself and becoming a steward of your environment.
-
Illustration. Adele enjoys illustrating in acrylic and digitally. Illustration is the best way for her to demonstrate a specific/editorial ideas because she can use character expressions to bring a message across.
A few of Adele's favorite artists are Summer Wheat, Joan Miro, Kehinde Wiley, KOAK, and Joan Mitchell and Damien Hirst. She also loves interior design, gardening, and travel.
Adele lives with her husband, her baby Jamila and dog Pancho in Oakland, CA.
