Jason Engelund

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Jason Engelund showcases the transformative experience of landscape by using photography and painting to abstract light, landscape, and visual perception.

Art writer and curator A. Will Brown described Engelund as “distinctly aware of the conceptual and metaphorical capacities of landscape”.

Engelund’s artwork is held in the permanent collection of the Museum of Photographic Arts and has been represented by galleries in Los Angeles, Oakland and San Francisco.

Engelund received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction at the California College of Arts and Crafts and received his Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Davis.

In 2012 Engelund was awarded the Individual Artist grant from the Sustainable Arts Foundation and in 2017 he was nominated and selected as one of eleven photographic artists for the Museum of Photographic Arts triennial exhibition Boundless: A California Invitational. “These artists are pushing the boundaries of what is currently possible in the medium of photography… It is leading a global dialogue on the redefinition of the medium.” — Deborah Klochko, Executive Director, Museum of Photographic Arts.
