You don't need a degree or fancy equipment to be an artist. You are an artist as soon as you make something. Creativity is already within you, waiting to be unleashed. It's not about finding a niche or marketing yourself, it's about expressing yourself authentically and sharing your unique perspective with the world.
When you start creating, you'll begin to see art in everything you do. The subject matter, style, color, and shape of your work will inspire new creations, leading to a daily creative practice. Don't worry about creating something original or groundbreaking at first. Start by making something, anything. Draw a self-portrait, collage two magazine pages together, or paint your favorite animal. Allow yourself to explore and experiment.
But don't stop there. Spend time with your creation. Ask yourself what it means to you, and how you can make it again and again, each time closer to your vision. Art is living poetry, and sharing it with others is everything.
Remember, when you first start creating, you may feel like what you're making is too basic or unoriginal. But that's okay. We all start somewhere. When I was in art school, everyone was drawing eyes and birds. Looking back, I realize that these subjects were a symbol of the infinite well of creativity within us, waiting to be discovered.
So go ahead, unlock your inner artist. Create the damn thing. Your art in concert with others can change the world.
